While the kids were at camp for an entire month, Josh and I returned back to Oceanside, California, for a couple more weeks. We wanted to experiment with one of the pandemics newest trends -- a workcation. This is the concept of taking a vacation, but working while there. For us, this experiment didn't exactly work out as we had hoped. Both of us ended up having some very stressful and long work weeks. And the set up in the rental was not adequate enough for us to fully engage in work in the most optimal way possible. In the end, we realized that we are the type of people that need to have a separation of work and play; a clearer, more bolded line between the two.
However, the workcation did allow for some fun. We were able to watch the Phoenix Suns on their journey in the NBA Finals against the Milwaukee Bucks. We found a new bar for each game. It was exciting to watch them play, especially since they started of the finals 2-0. But, sadly, they couldn't keep the lead and eventually lost in Game 6.
We also drove to Temecula one day to wine taste. Josh had never visited this particular wine country, so we thought it would be fun to explore and taste test. We visited Lorimar Winery and also Leoness Cellars. The wines at both were pleasant and the vineyards were so beautiful and relaxing. It was a fun excursion.
While in California, Josh and I scouted out all of the restaurants that we would not normally be able to eat at with our kids. We enjoyed so much sushi and seafood. It was amazing and delicious!
We also visited with friends. My college girlfriends trekked down from the Los Angeles area to see us. We bar hopped through Oceanside with Andrea and Michael. And we rented a speed boat and dined out in Carlsbad with Kathleen and Ryan. We rendezvoused with Tara and Sue for drinks at Yard House in Carlsbad on their way down to San Diego for the weekend (sadly, no pic). It was so nice catching up and spending time with everyone. Over twenty years later, I am so blessed to still have these women in my life.
