Last Day of School

The expression, "The Days Go By Slow, but the Years Go By So Fast," couldn't ring truer for me this past school year.  Now that both of my kids are in the hustle and bustle of homework, tests, nightly reading, and math facts, the school year is a blur.  An amazing and fun blur; full of fun homework projects, proud Mommy moments and kids excited to show off their good test scores.  Both of my kids grew so much this year.  We couldn't be any prouder! Madilyn enjoyed her school year in Mrs. DeMarsh's class.  She made some new friends including Natalie.  Madi loves to read.  She is now reading chapter books.  She also loves art.  Every day she would bring home some little doodle or drawing.  Her writing also improved so much.  She enjoyed writing each week in her journal.  It is amazing to see how much she grew from August to May. Math, on the other hand, doesn't come as easy for her, but she continues to work hard to master her ...

Aiden's Kindergarten Graduation

On the Saturday before the last day of school, BASIS Phoenix Central held a graduation ceremony for the kindergartners at Amphitheater Island in Encanto Park.  It was a very adorable event complete with caps and diplomas.  The kids even released balloons as a final celebration at the end of the event.  I am a little sad it will be my last kinder graduation.  They grow-up *so* fast! BPC Spring Concert

On Saturday, April 8th, all of the students at BASIS Phoenix Central performed in a Spring Concert. The school organized it so that each of the classes would perform by grade level at various times during the day.  Luckily, our kids' performances were back to back times.  The performance was held at the Phoenix College Bullpitt Auditorium.  It was a great space to watch the kids perform.  Both of our kids did amazing. No fear, no jitters.  They each walked out on stage and did their very best.  It was pretty adorable. Aiden's grade performed at 10:00am.  Aiden, technically, performed twice.  Once with all of the kindergarten classes to exhibit their Chinese language skills.  The second time he performed with his classmates.  Ms. Fox selected the song, "Under the Sea."  The kids were encouraged to dress accordingly.  Too cute! BASIS ~ Fall Update

Fall has been a very busy time for the Farrell-Landers family.  We have enjoyed participating in many, many extracurricular activities, but we are happy to say that we always make time to get our school work completed first. Aiden started at BASIS Central Phoenix this year as a kindergartner.  He is doing very well.  School work seems to come very easy to this second child.  His favorite subject his year is engineering and we have enjoyed the monthly family STEM projects.  As a family, we have built a shield for Aiden to wear and a drum made out of cans for him to play.  For both period one and two, Aiden qualified for the 90's Club. This means that he averaged at least a 90% average or better for each of the periods. Hopefully he can finish the rest of the year just as strong. Way to go, Aiden!
