Jenn and Madilyn’s First NCL Event
Jenn and Madilyn embarked on a new journey by joining the Moon Valley Chapter of the National Charity League. Their first event was the chapter’s Annual Tea at the Arizona Broadway Theater, a beautiful venue that set the stage for an elegant and memorable afternoon. The theater was adorned with lovely decorations, and the atmosphere was filled with the camaraderie of the NCL community. Jenn and Madilyn enjoyed meeting new people and engaging in meaningful conversations. The event was a delightful introduction to the NCL, and it was evident that they would be part of a supportive and inspiring group of women.
The long-anticipated remodel of our family's home on Aster officially kicked off in May, marking the beginning of an exciting yet emotional journey. Our family moved out to make way for the project, and we were fortunate to be welcomed into my parents' home on Redfield. Their house provided us with the space we needed, and it felt like a temporary sanctuary amidst the chaos. The kids each had their own room, and Josh and I settled into the master bedroom, a familiar yet strange experience as we found ourselves back in my childhood home. Seeing our house empty and being torn down to the studs on May 8th was surreal. It was a mix of nostalgia and anticipation as we looked forward to transforming our home.

Remembering Clara “Micky” Lovejoy
On May 3rd, we experienced a profound loss with the passing of Clara “Micky” Lovejoy. We attended her memorial on May 11th, held at her home. The intimate gathering was a fitting tribute to her life. Lynsey and Mina flew in to be with us, and my parents traveled down the mountain to join the family. We shared stories, laughter, and tears as we remembered Micky. Valle Luna, one of her favorite meals, was served, bringing comfort and a sense of familiarity to the occasion. It was a touching reminder of the love and memories we shared with her.
A Special Shabbat and Mother’s Day
With Mina and Lynsey home, we celebrated Shabbat together, followed by a heartfelt Mother’s Day celebration. Having both of my parents' daughters and grandchildren under one roof was incredibly special for my mom. We gathered around the table, shared a delicious meal, and enjoyed each other's company. The house was filled with laughter and love, creating a warm and joyous atmosphere. It was a Mother’s Day to remember, marked by the presence of family and the bonds that unite us.
Lookout Mountain Elementary School’s Evening of the Arts in May was a wonderful celebration of creativity and talent. The school buzzed with excitement, transformed into a vibrant showcase of visual and performing arts. Aiden’s ceramic lacrosse stick was proudly displayed in the visual arts museum, reflecting his creativity and passion for lacrosse. Adding to the excitement, Aiden played as a percussionist in the sixth-grade band concert. The highlight of the evening was their rendition of the Star Wars theme, which made the performance even more enjoyable and memorable.
Aiden and Madilyn's last day of school on May 23rd was marked by the beloved Sixth Grade Send-Off tradition at Lookout Mountain Elementary. The sixth graders paraded through the school, passing by their former classrooms and teachers, who cheered them on with pride. It was a bittersweet moment, watching our children transition from elementary to middle school. As they walked the halls, memories of their early school years flooded back, and tears of joy and pride filled our eyes. The parade concluded on the playground, where parents applauded their accomplishments, celebrating this significant milestone in their educational journey.
For Memorial Day weekend, we embarked on a memorable trip to Calabasas, CA, to visit the Vorobiof/Reisman family and Selma. We began with a warm and welcoming Shabbat dinner, surrounded by loved ones. The next morning, we explored the bustling Saturday farmers market in Calabasas, enjoying fresh produce and local delicacies. Taking Selma shopping at the Dollar Tree was a fun and heartwarming experience. On Sunday, we ventured to Malibu for an outdoor adventure, hiking and biking up a trail overlooking the stunning coastal scenery. Madilyn, determined and spirited, was the only one who made it to the top, while the rest of the kids waited at the trail's beginning. The weekend concluded with a relaxing visit to the beach, where we soaked up the sun, savored delicious food, and relished the serene ocean views.
