October 2023

October was a month that blended acts of service, moments of reflection, and festive celebrations. Here's a look at what made this October so memorable for our family:

Volunteering Together

This month, we made time to give back as a family. Aiden and Josh volunteered with Boys Team Charity, while Madilyn and I joined efforts with the National Charity League. Together, we volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul, where we spent the day helping those in need. It was a humbling and rewarding experience, and it reminded us of the importance of community and compassion.

Finnley’s 5th Birthday

Finnley turned five this October, and we couldn’t miss his Minecraft-themed birthday party. It was a lively and colorful celebration, complete with block-shaped treats, games, and plenty of laughter. Seeing Finnley’s excitement and joy was the highlight of the day.

A Day of Sadness and Reflection

October 10th was a somber day for the Jewish community, a reminder of the challenges and losses our people have faced. The weight of the day carried into the week and Shabbat, and it served as a moment to pause and reflect on the resilience of our heritage.

Shabbat Gatherings

Later in the month, we enjoyed a lively Shabbat with the Raetz family. The kids had a blast carving pumpkins, creating their own spooky masterpieces, while the adults relaxed and watched the Diamondbacks play one of their final regular season games. It was a beautiful balance of tradition and fun.

House Renovation Milestone

The house renovation continued to progress this month, with a major milestone achieved: the installation of the windows! Seeing the house take shape with each new addition has been exciting, and we’re getting closer to making it our dream home.

Aiden’s Halloween Volunteering

Aiden embraced the Halloween spirit by volunteering with Boys Team Charity at a community Halloween event. From helping with games to ensuring everyone had a great time, he was in his element, spreading joy and embodying the spirit of service.

A Night at the World Series

Jenn had the incredible opportunity to attend Game 3 of the World Series at Chase Field, thanks to United Healthcare. While the Diamondbacks didn’t win that night, the atmosphere was electric, and the experience was unforgettable. Witnessing baseball history firsthand was a highlight of the month.

Halloween Festivities

Halloween 2023 was packed with fun! Jenn’s workplace celebrated with a costume contest and a festive potluck, making for a lively day at work. Both Aiden and Madilyn enjoyed trick-or-treating with their friends, returning home with bags full of candy and stories to share. The festive energy and creativity of the day were infectious.

Reflecting on October

October was a month of contrasts: solemn moments of reflection intertwined with joyful celebrations and meaningful acts of service. From milestones in our home renovation to unforgettable experiences like the World Series, it was a month that reminded us of the importance of balancing tradition, community, and fun. Here’s to carrying these memories with us into the rest of the year.
