December was a month filled with family, celebrations, and a whirlwind of activities that brought us together to create lasting memories. Here’s how we wrapped up an incredible year:
Shabbat and GG’s 96th Birthday
We kicked off the month by spending Shabbat in Calabasas, California, celebrating GG’s 96th birthday. She looked amazing, and it was heartwarming to see her surrounded by loved ones. The milestone reminded us of the importance of cherishing our family matriarch and the legacy she continues to inspire.
Oceanside Lacrosse Tournament
After Shabbat, we drove to Oceanside for Aiden’s Team 48 lacrosse tournament. It was an exciting weekend of sports, and Josh’s cousin Jake even stopped by to cheer Aiden on. Having family support at these events made the tournament even more special.
Madilyn Wraps Up Cheer Season
Madilyn concluded her cheer season with Mountain Sky Junior High this month. Her dedication and leadership as cheer captain were evident throughout the season, and we couldn’t be prouder of her accomplishments.
Hanukkah Celebrations
This year, we celebrated Hanukkah at my parents’ home. The warmth of family, glowing menorahs, and delicious latkes made for a memorable holiday. Madilyn stayed busy during Hanukkah, taking her HSPT exam and attending a party with her camp friends, which she thoroughly enjoyed.
BUKU SoCal Showdown Victory
Team 48 2030s participated in the BUKU SoCal Showdown in Temecula, California, and won their division! Aiden and his team played with determination and teamwork, and their hard work paid off with a well-deserved victory.
House Renovation Progress
The house renovation continued to take shape this month. Insulation and drywall were installed, making the space feel closer to completion. Each step forward brings us closer to making our dream home a reality.
Las Vegas Lacrosse and Adventures
Later in the month, we took a road trip to Las Vegas for Aiden’s box lacrosse tournament. The trip was packed with activities, starting with a professional lacrosse game featuring the Las Vegas Desert Dogs. The boys were thrilled to see the pros in action. After the first day of games, we ventured to Fremont Street, giving the boys a taste of the vibrant and unfiltered Vegas experience, while the parents enjoyed some socializing.
On day two, before the games began, we explored the Coca Cola Store on the Strip. The kids had a blast sampling different Coca Cola flavors from around the world. The tournament concluded with Aiden’s team placing third, a strong finish to an exciting weekend.
Holiday Festivities
December was brimming with holiday fun. Jenn’s sales team hosted a holiday happy hour and bottle exchange, and her boot camp group organized a festive themed workout and coffee gathering. Madilyn’s cheer team wrapped up their coach in a fun holiday tradition. Grandma baked her signature candy cane cookies with the kids, adding a sweet touch to the season.
Our family joined the Raetz family for a magical evening at the Holiday Light Experience, followed by a stop at Moon Valley’s Candy Cane Lane to cap off the night.
Christmas and Family Traditions
Christmas Eve and Christmas Day were spent with Grandma and Papa. Josh pitched in to help the neighbors set up luminarias along our street, a beautiful annual tradition. We opened our traditional gift of pajamas from my parents on Christmas Eve. Christmas morning brought the excitement of presents, Napa Sunrises, and our favorite bubbleloaf breakfast. We ended the day with a gathering at the Pattee family’s home, filled with good food and great company.
New Year’s Eve with the Raetz Family
We rang in 2024 with the Raetz family. The evening included creating vision boards, setting intentions for the new year, fireworks, and quality time with friends. It was the perfect way to reflect on the past year and look forward to what’s to come.
Looking Back on December
December 2023 was a month of celebration, growth, and gratitude. From milestones like GG’s 96th birthday to victories on the lacrosse field and cherished holiday traditions, the month was filled with moments that we’ll treasure forever. Here’s to a fantastic end to the year and an even brighter year ahead!
