As the last hurrah of the summer before the kids went back to school, we decided to rent a vacation home for a week in Durango, Colorado, with our dear friends, the Pattees. It was a beautiful home on the Florida River and had plenty of space for the kids, the dogs and the adults. We filled the week with various activities:
- Tubing in the river near our house
- Playing yard games and building forts in the forest
- Movie under the stars
- Hiking near the Vallecito Campground
- A day trip to Purgatory Resort to enjoy the summer activities like the Inferno Mountain Coaster, the Alpine Slide, and more.
- Visiting downtown Durango, shopping and their breweries
- Rafting down the Animas River
- Swimming in Lemon Reservoir
- Shabbat riverside
- Pinochle and Euchre card playing
- Relaxing and reading
What a wonderful way to end the summer! Cooler temperatures, companions for kids and adults alike, decompression time, and great memories. We really enjoyed our mountain vacation.
