'Tis the Season ... for Trains

For the second weekend in December, the Farrell-Landers family decided to take a trip up north visit Santa via the Polar Express.  Our good friends, the Raetz Family, decided to accompany us on this fun adventure.  This was our second trip to Williams, Arizona, to board the infamous Polar Express Train.  All of the kids loved it.  Keaton currently is very obsessed with trains so he just kept talking about the train.  Madi quickly learned that Santa is a celebrity and someone she should pay attention to.  Both toddlers loved the concept of Santa, but as soon as he was front and center handing them their "jingle bell", they both acted shy and aloof.  Too cute!  Although, I am happy to report that after this trip to see Santa, Madilyn asked about Santa daily even past Christmas day and once all of the decorations were packed up.
Friday night was Polar Express night, so we spent the night in Flagstaff that evening to avoid driving down south in the dark and snow.  Plus, we did that the year before and it was not that much fun.  Since we were up north, we decided Saturday we would take the scenic drive home through Sedona and allow the kids to play in the snow.  Madi isn't a fan of snow and cold yet.  She must take after her mother.  So, when it came to "play" in the snow, she just cried and cried.  It wasn't the picture perfect moment Josh was hoping, but we made the most of it even if the Prius got stuck in the snow.  Thank goodness there are still kind and friendly people in the world who were glad to help push our car out of the snow.  Since "snow time" didn't last as long as we expected, we decided to stop in Sedona to window shop and allow Madi to expend some energy.  We had so much fun!  It was one of the best afternoon adventures we have had in a long time.  No toddler tears and Aiden loved being held all afternoon.

All in all, our weekend up north was a huge success.  We may even make this a annual tradition.
