15 Months Old

Today, Aiden visited his pediatrician for his 15 month old check-up.  He is developing normally and the doctor was very happy with his growth and development. Although his pediatrician did say that he had not grown too much since his last well-baby visit which I just could not believe.  I think that he is getting so big.  He received a couple more vaccinations and the flu shot.  He was very good and only cried for a short bit.  However, he was very upset everytime the doctor or the nurse would leave the room.  He wanted to go with them.  He would run to the door pointing and crying.  I guess he enjoys his friendly medical care providers.

Aiden's stats as of this visit were:
  • Head circumference - 18.5" (52nd percentile)
  • Height - 31" (34th percentile)
  • Weight - 25.6 pounds (81st percentile)
Here are a couple of photos that I took while we were waiting in the lobby and while waiting in the exam room for the physician.

Here are some of Aiden's favorite things to do right now:
  • Go outside. Always! As soon as we get home, he wants to go outside.  His current favorite activity outside is to swing.  He would swing all night long if we would allow him.
  • Balls.  He loves to throw balls of any kind -- golf balls, basketballs, soccer balls, baseballs, oranges (as he thinks they are balls).  Most evenings we take him upstairs into the playroom so he can dunked balls in his basketball net.  It is pretty adorable.
  • Babble.  He does say a couple of words here and there like Capone, Mama, Dada, baba (for his binkie), but for the most part he just likes to make noise and babble.  Conceptually, we understand what he wants, but he just isn't very good at verbalizing it yet.
  • Binkies -- any and all of them.  Honestly, you will catch him carrying up to four pacifiers at once.  All the while, he will trade them out in his mouth as he plays or walks.  He is obsessed!

  • Get bumps and bruises.  There isn't a day that goes by that a new bump or bruise doesn't appear on his body.  And 99% of the time, it is his head or face or nose that suffers. Check out his nose and forehead below.  This was taken a couple of days after the original face plant to the sidewalk.  He looks pretty good here.
  • He is a very happy child.  Usually a smile on his face, unless it is hidden by his pacifier or he is having a tantrum.
  • Very mechanically minded.  He loves to stack things or place objects in other objects.  He wants to know how it works.
  • He enjoys taunting his sister and his parents.  He has figured out exactly which buttons to push and has started to figure out how to test the limits that have set for him.  He will be our wiley child.
  • Loves bathtime.  In fact, he loves it so much than when it is time to get out at the end of the bath, he cries and cries because he doesn't want to get out.
  • Does not like the word no.  This is his trigger word.  If you even semi-mention this word, Aiden goes into a complete tantrum and immediately falls to the ground to cry.  Unlike his sister, once he reaches this state of being, there is no turning back.  You just have to let him melt down and wait until he decides he is done.
  • Loves all food.  He is a wonderful eater.  We haven't really found a food that he doesn't eat.  Although, he is one messy eater.  And you know that he is done eating when he starts literally painting with his food on the table.
  • He is a mover.  He never wants to just sit down and cuddle.  He wants to walk and eat.  Run and explore.  Drink and walk.  He is constantly in motion. It can be pretty exhausting to watch and monitor.

I am dying from the cuteness overload of that picture of him with all his binks! Such a cutie.
