March Madness

March was a very busy time for the Farrell-Landers family.  With the gorgeous spring weather in the air, we were happy to to be the destination choice for many of our family and friends to visit.  Grandpa Landers, GG and GP visited us at the beginning of the month for Madilyn's third birthday party.  We are very lucky that our daughter is able to spend time with her grandpa and great-grandparents who she does not get to see very often as they live out of state.  It made her birthday party even more special.

In mid-March, we had a couple of my sorority sisters visit with their families to enjoy the spring weather and some Dodger baseball games.  We all enjoyed catching up with each other and watching our kids play together.  I really wish that you all lived closer ... thanks for visiting.

During her spring training visit this March, Miss Kathleen also enjoyed participating in a Teddy Bear Picnic with my kids at their preschool.  We really had fun sitting on blankets in the grass eating sandwiches, pretzels and apples.  I am really lucky to have such a wonderful friend who will spend her vacation time with me and my kids.  Thank you, Miss King!

During the busy month of March, our family also attended a the baptism of our very good friends' daughter.  We were very honored to share in this special occasion and were even more amazed our children were so well behaved for the hour long service and ceremony.

Lastly, our little lady loves to walk on any surface that resembles a balance beam -- walls, curbs, parking spot markers, etc..  Therefore, we thought that she would enjoy gymnastics.  We signed her up for a trial class and purchased her first leotard.  For a couple of weeks before the class, we explain to Madi that she was going to go to gymnastics and make new friends.  The class for Madilyn's age is a small group class with the instructor -- no parents on the floor.  We continued to explain this to Madi and make her understand that she was a big girl who would be taking the class all by herself.  She was so excited the week and day of the class. However, once the teacher called the kids to participate, Madi went into freakout mode.  She grabbed me and wouldn't let go, crying and screaming the entire time.  I tried a couple of various parenting options to get her to participate, but no luck.  She continued her death grip on me and just cried and cried.  After about 20-30 minutes of trying to get her to try the class, I gave up and took her home.  I guess we will try again in another six months or so.  Maybe by then, she will feel more comfortable leaving Mommy's side to participate in a group class.
