New Years Trip to Puerto Penasco, Mexico

For the second year in a row, our family decided to ring in the new year relaxing in a rental house on the beach in Puerto Penasco, Mexico. The Raetz family joined us on this adventure again this year. We rented a four bedroom house located north of Sandy Beach in Rocky Point. It included a hot tub, a swimming pool, fire pit, and was just steps away from the sand and ocean. Unlike the weather last year, it was extremely cold this year. Thus, we did not utilize the beach as much as we had liked, but we still found enough activities to keep us occupied and content.

The rental also included a daily house cleaner, whom we could have cook for us for an extra fee. Margarita was amazing and became a very special little part of our trip. The kids enjoyed a pillow fight with her and I, personally, loved practicing my Spanish with her. She thoroughly loved cooking for us and the kids. We just placed our order every night with her and she would go into town, purchase the food (which we would reimburse her for later) and then cook it for us dinner the next day. She made everything from scratch. We enjoyed several dishes: chicken fajitas, fish tacos, ceviche, chicken mole and green chili pork. And every dish that she made was better than what she made the night before. Plus, she did all of the clean up too. Anytime that I would try to assist her, she would tell me, "No preocupados" and shoo me out of the kitchen. She was, by far, one of the best parts of the vacation.

Our week in Puerto Penasco was the perfect kick-off to 2019. It enabled us to get some much needed downtime while laughing and making some great memories. I think that we have found our New Years tradition. Until next year ....
