Aiden's 8th Birthday!

Aiden turned eight years old in this past August.  This year, we decided to do a couple of Aiden's favorite things on his birthday.  We spent a couple of hours playing games at Dave and Busters.  And for dinner, we dined out at Valle Luna.  It was a pretty special day.

Aiden is becoming such a fun, yet challenging kid.  He acts like he is too old to hold my hand, but every once and awhile he will still snuggle with me on the couch when we watch a movie or a football game.

He is also becoming very independent and adventurous.  He will often want to do things that stretch my comfort zone farther than normal.  For example, when he decided that he was old enough to ride his bike to school by himself.

He likes to be the center of everyone's attention and have everyone play what he wants to play.  We are working on trying to remind him to compromise and that he should sometimes do the things that others want to do.

He enjoys most games and sports.  He is still playing soccer and most days enjoys it. He is also taking chess club at school.   He also has a talent for card playing and is becoming a pretty good player.  He enjoys playing "Blackjack" and has almost figured out how to "Shoot the Moon" in the card game "Hearts".

He is a good student and enjoys math and science.  We had him tested for math this past summer and he is currently testing a year ahead in his math skills.  Now, if we could just get him to love reading as much as he loves math.

He seems to make friends easily and hasn't had any problems adjusting to his new school.

He is really into Pokemon cards right now.  He is obsessed with collecting them and trading them even though I am not quite sure he knows how to play the actual game with them.  He also still enjoys playing with Legos and will play with them upstairs for hours.

I am so lucky to be Mom to this amazing funny, sassy, kind, creative, sensitive, and energetic young man.  He pushes my buttons a good amount of the time, but what he doesn't know is that he is allowing me to grow and develop as a mom and a person too.  It may be hard and frustrating at times, but I wouldn't trade it for the world.  I love you, Aiden!
