Camp Stein ~ July 2021

The kids spent the entire month of July at Camp Stein.  Camp Stein is located outside of Prescott, Arizona, in the Bradshaw Forest.  It was the first time they elected to spend that much time at camp. But, after camp was cancelled last summer, they had decided that they wanted to go to camp for an entire month.  And guess what, no surprise, they loved every moment of it!  Who wouldn't!  While at camp, the kids get to elect various different activities to explore and enjoy during the day like horseback riding, swimming, canoeing, ropes course, ziplining, rock-climbing, arts and crafts, ceramics, drama, dancing, mountain biking, and a variety of sports including: tennis, basketball, volleyball, soccer, batting cage, lacrosse, and frisbee golf ("frolf").  At night, they participate in more creative activities that their counselors plan like scavenger hunts, game shows, casino nights, dances and sometimes they go on overnight excursions as a cabin.

One of the perks of attending camp in July is the kids were able to participate in the Maccabiah Games.  The Maccabiah Games are held the last week of July each summer and is an Olympic-style color war.  The camp is divided into two teams -- the Red Team and the Blue Team.  Our kids were chosen to be on the Blue Team.  That will be their team for as long as they go to camp.  Once the Opening Ceremonies concludes, the teams begin to compete.  The teams compete each day in several different competitions including sports games, races, food eating challenges, silly contests, cooking challenges, and much more.  At then end of the games, a winner is declared during the Closing Ceremonies.  This year, the Blue Team won!  This color hadn't won in like five years.  Our kids were so excited to have been on the winning team.

I'm guessing they will want to return to camp next year to defend their champion status.  As if I had any worry they wouldn't want to return to their "happy place".
