Family Portraits - Take 1

Since Madi was born, we have taken several pictures of her and even quite a few of Madi with other people.  However, I quickly realized that Josh and I do not have very many photos with her at all.  So, we decided it was time to get some taken.  As a recommendation from a family friend, we ventured to JCPenney Portraits last Saturday to get our pictures taken.  Here are a couple of lessons I learned from this experience:

1) Deciding to have family portraits taken the Saturday right before Easter may not have been the best choice.  There were children, babies and families everywhere.  All dressed in their Sunday best.  The Easter Bunny also made a special appearance.  Since the entire world felt the need to get their pictures taken the same day as we did, the studio was running a half hour to hour behind, even if you had an appointment scheduled!  This, unfortunately, resulted in feeling like the photographer rushed through our session.  There were so many other poses I wished we had taken.  As a side point - since the studio was crammed with people, so the room temperature was extremely warm.  Plus, I was holding Madi who also radiates heat.  This, in return, caused me to start sweating like a little piggy.  I am so shocked that you cannot see the beads of sweat, which were running down my forehead, in each one of the photos.  Next time, we will have our photo shoot in the middle of the week early in the morning before anyone else gets out of bed.

2)  Next time have the photographer take Madi's solo shots first.  By the time we finished the family photo, our precious baby wanted nothing more to do with this photography business.  She was tired of being placed in silly poses and was peeved that the flashes from the camera and the photographer, who felt the need to squawk like parrot at her, woke her up.  As you can probably tell, I am not very happy with her solo photos.  There is one photo that I am not going to post because it makes her look like an old man with a receding hair line.  It's just horrible and doesn't at all portray her adorable-ness.  Lucky for us, the Easter pictures I took of her are so cute and we can use those as her six week pictures.

Anyway, here are our photos.  I really do think the family portraits turned out very well.  What a great looking, happy family!  Here are the first Farrell-Landers family portraits:

That's why you just splurge and have a photographer come to the house :)

Such beautiful photos!! You will be so glad you have these.

That said....photo sessions with kids are always such a pain in the f***ing ass!! I stopped doing them when Tate was two because I was going to die a slow and early death just from the stress and high blood pressure. I'm grateful to have those photos now, but....sheesh. If you have a local friend who has a good camera and an eye for photography, take advantage and have her come to the house!! MUCH easier and it won't break the bank!

Anyhoo, love the photos! Thanks for sharing!
