Holiday Fun ... Santa Brunch

The month of December was filled with so many wonderful holiday events.  On the first Sunday of the month, we joined Grandma and Papa Farrell and Oma at Moon Valley Country Club's Annual Santa Brunch.  It was a fabulous event.  The food was amazing -- crab legs, prime rib, omelet bar, homemade cinnamon rolls, desserts, and even a kids food table with chicken fingers, fries and macaroni and cheese.  It was one of the best brunches I have ever encountered.

For the kids, they had several tables for them to visit -- a cookie decorating station, a craft table and a coloring table.  And of course, Santa and Mrs. Claus arrived in style via their golf cart so that the kids could sit on Santa's lap and tell them what they wanted for Christmas.

Madilyn was very excited to see Santa.  As a matter of fact, she woke me up that morning with her "list" (scribbled mostly in the letter 'm' as that is the only letter she really can write so far) in hand ready to give to Santa that morning.  She carried her "list" around the house all morning anticipating the moment that she would give Santa her "list".

When Madi learned that Santa and Mrs. Claus were driving around the 18th green towards the Club, she ran straight to our table to grab her list for Santa.  With her list in hand, she ran as fast as she could out the Club's back door to Santa as he walked up the steps to the Club and presented him her list.  He smiled before he could even say a word to her, she bolted back into the Clubhouse to join me and the rest of the family.  She exclaimed, "I gave Santa my list!"  I said, "Great, let's go get in line so you can sit on his lap and tell him what you want for Christmas!"  We headed over to the line to see Santa.  It was at the moment when we walked in between the two ropes which would guide us to see Santa that Madi decided that she no longer wanted to see Santa.  So, for the third year in a row, our daughter cried when given the opportunity to visit with Santa and refused to sit on his lap.

We all laugh now.  She did what she needed to do.  She confidently delivered Santa her list, but then really didn't feel it was necessary to tell him the list all over again.

Aiden, also, did not want to sit on Santa's lap, but he hold his hands to have a man to man chat about what he wanted for Christmas.  As you will see in the photos, Aiden was really enamored with Santa.

Maybe next year, both kids will want to sit on Santa's lap.
