October 2022

October is one of my most favorite months of the year.  It is my birth month, but also the weather in Arizona starts to cool down and we are able to spend more time outdoors.  This October was no exception.  However, we were also able to fill our month full of new opportunities, family traditions, and memorable moments.  From sports competitions to a surprise visit to California, here's a glimpse into our family's cherished memories from this unforgettable month.

Aiden's Soccer and Lacrosse Adventures
Aiden had a busy month on the sports field! He, along with his buddies Bryson and Graham, participated in the competitive soccer league with CCV Stars. In order to play with a coach that we knew, the boys had to play up an age division.  It definitely was a challenge for the boys, but it also allowed them to learn different skills and play with their friends.
But that wasn't all! Aiden also ventured into the world of box lacrosse with the Outlaws fall ball program. This fast-paced and physical sport quickly captured his heart, and it was a hit with the whole family.
Aiden and his Arrowhead Warrior lacrosse teammates made us proud as they competed in Arizona Christian University's inaugural "Sixes" lacrosse tournament. Despite facing stiff competition, they reached the championship game, showcasing their skills and sportsmanship. Though they didn't clinch victory, they had an absolute blast playing together.

California Crusin'
For our fall break, we embarked on a whirlwind adventure to California. Our first stop was the enchanting world of Disneyland and California Adventure. Both parks were decked out in stunning fall and Halloween decorations, making it a magical experience for all of us.

We opted for a park hopper pass so that we could conquer two parks in one day.  We began our day at California Adventure and concluded the day in Disneyland. The new rides like Spiderman: Across the Universe in the Avengers Campus and Rise of the Resistance in Star Wars land were incredible. We laughed, screamed, and created beautiful memories that will last a lifetime.

From Anaheim, we headed north to Calabasas, CA, for a heartwarming surprise visit to the Vorobiof family. GG (Selma) had no idea we were coming, and her shocked expression was priceless. Our visit coincided with Shabbat and Sukkot, allowing us to celebrate two special Jewish holidays with family.

We also had the opportunity to watch Haley, the Vorobiof's daughter, cheer at her high school's Friday night football game. Madilyn was mesmerized by her performance and dreams of following in her footsteps someday.  We spent Saturday shopping with GG and spending more time with our cousins.  It was an amazing short vacation.

Pumpkin Carving Tradition
One of our beloved family traditions is carving pumpkins for Halloween with the Raetz family. This year was extra special because the kids took charge of cleaning out and carving the pumpkins themselves. The laughter and creativity flowed as we crafted spooky and silly designs.

Halloween with Friends
Halloween brought a bit of change this year. Our kids are growing up, and they each wanted to spend the holiday with their friends. Madilyn joined her girlfriends from Mountain Sky Junior High for some trick-or-treating fun. Aiden, on the other hand, celebrated with his lacrosse buddy Max Haney, going door-to-door for treats, and enjoying a hayride through the neighborhood. Josh and I happily joined in on the festivities, embracing this new chapter of our family's Halloween traditions.

October was a month of laughter, surprises, sportsmanship, and cherished traditions. From sports victories to magical theme park adventures and heartwarming family visits, we will always treasure the memories created during this beautiful autumn month. We can't wait to see what future Octobers have in store for us!
