9 Months Old

This past Wednesday was Madi's 9 month pediatrician visit.  Per her doctor, she is developing very well and seems to be a very happy baby.  Madi received her normal vaccinations and also her flu shot.  Like usual, she only cried for a short period of time before she was smiling and ready to play again.

Madilyn's stats as of this visit were:
  • Head circumference - 17" (27th percentile)
  • Height - 27.12" (49th percentile)
  • Weight - 19 pounds, 7 ounces (62rd percentile)

  •
Here are some of the things that Madi is demonstrating at this age ...
  • Crawling all over the house, on furniture, through furniture, on people ... more or less where ever her little body can travel.
  • She is pulling herself up using the furniture and has now figured out how to sit down afterward.  She is also beginning to take a couple of steps to cruise around the furniture.
  • She is becoming pretty innovative.  Recently, she used one of her toy box lids to stand on so she could become a little taller to grab something on the table that she wanted.
  • She loves destroying Daddy's architectural designs he creates with her blocks.  She thinks it is one of the most fun games ever.
  • She is becoming a very independent eater.  She no longer wants Mommy or Daddy to feed her.  She can do it all by herself even if only half of it actually makes it into her mouth.  The dogs are very happy to help with the clean-up.
  • To date, her smile consists of 6 full grown teeth.  Four on top and two on bottom.
  • We have also discovered that she is quite the camera *diva*.  She always finds it necessary to "pose" even for the candid photos.
  • She continues to love bathtime.  She loves splashing around in the water and "swimming" to get all her bath toys.  She has even graduated to the adult size bathtub.
  • Madilyn has started to express a little apprehension around strangers or with people she has not seen in a while.  It only takes her a couple of minutes to feel comfortable again and then she is happy to be passed all around the room.
  • She has started to "sing" with the radio in the car or at least we think that is what she is doing.  It is so cute.
