Summertime in Coronado

As a last hurrah of the summer, we decided to spend the last week of August in Coronado, California. We enjoyed our time last year in Coronado so much that we wanted to return again this year.  We rented a cute three bedroom house on Avenue E and spent the week lounging on the beach, enjoying time with friends and taking time to relax and unwind.  Our rental home was only a couple of blocks from the beach so this became a daily destination for our family.  The kids never tired of playing in the sand, combing the beach for seashells or wading in the water.

Halfway through our trip, we joined Andrea and her kids for a day at LEGOLAND.  It was our first amusement park adventure with our kids.  The day started off rocky.  On our drive up to Carlsbad that morning, Aiden threw-up all over himself and his car seat.  We had to stop near La Jolla to get everything cleaned up and to get him some Tylenol.  We continued on our way not knowing if Aiden was going to be sick all day or if it was a one time occurrence.  Luckily, he felt fine the rest of the day.

While at the park, we enjoyed many of the rides designed for our kids.  The park wasn't busy at all and we were able to walk up to most of the rides without much of a line.  Our biggest worry was that our kids would be too short to go on many of the rides, but, in fact, Madilyn was able to go on all of the rides that Felicity and Tate wanted to go on while Aiden was only too short for the roller coaster ride.  LEGOLAND also has a water park.  We spent a couple of hours that afternoon enjoying the water slides and splashing around in the pools.  We concluded our LEGOLAND experience by walking through Miniland USA.  This is the portion of the park where they replicate U.S. cities using only LEGOs.  It is pretty impressive.  I cannot even imagine how long it took them to build some of those structures and scenery.

What a great summer vacation!
