Game On!

So while the kids spent the week with Grandma and Grandpa, they daily attended one hour of soccer camp.  This camp's goal was to instruct the kids on the fundamentals of soccer -- kicking, dribbling, passing, and scoring a goal.  I loved the coach -- Coach Tamara.  She had an tremendous teaching technique which included tons of patience, humor and a positive attitude with all of the kids.  The kids class had about five 2-3 year old toddlers.  Our kids faired pretty well although there were many more tears at camp once Mommy and Daddy attended with them.  In fact, to be honest, the last day was pretty much a fiasco.  I think there were more tears shed than actual balls kicked.

For the entire week, Madilyn did not quite want to participate in soccer camp on her own.  She wanted to constantly hold someone's hand.  If you tried to get her to play on her own, she would break into tears.  It was somewhat discouraging and frustrating.  However, if Madi ever gains the confidence to play on her own, she could be quite good at this sport.  She has a strong kicking ability.  We may have to give her one more try this fall.  The third time is the charm, right?

Aiden, on the other hand, had no issue participating on his own.  In fact, even when one of the exercises was a little more challenging for him and someone offered to help, he would waive them off indicating that he could do it all by himself.  He may not be our little speed demon, but he made sure what ever exercise Coach requested of him, he did with tremendous determination and precision.  He could be our little soccer player!

Overall, this was a good experience for our kids.  It was a good opportunity for them to grow socially and physicially.  Thanks to Grandma and Grandpa for supporting our kids so they could try out something fun and different.  Love you!
