Weekend Trip to Laguna Woods

During the first weekend in April, we decided to take a road trip over to Laguna Woods, California, to see Great-Grandpa (GP) and Great-Grandma (GG).  We hadn't visited them in over six months so we were well overdue.  The kids just adore GG and GP!  Several times during the trip, they asked to sit in GG's lap or if it was alright to color them a picture.  It was such a delightful visit, as always.

While in California, we enjoyed several of our favorite activities with GG and GP:
  • We visited the 99 Cent Store so the kids could each pick out five toys each to play with at GG and GP's house.  Well, as you could imagine, taking two toddlers to a store full of toys and telling them  to choose only five things to buy was a little chaotic and unrealistic.  To quote GP:  "We entered the store with the intention to spend $10 total, however, I am almost positive we missed that mark as we left with about $30 worth of merchandise instead."  Either way, it was a fun outing for the kids and adults.
  • We celebrated Shabbat on Friday evening where I was able to practice the Jewish Shabbat blessings.
  • We enjoyed lunch out at Sam Woo's and inducted my girlfriend into the family by giving her a tour of the unique Asian market next door to Sam Woo's.
  • We had our final breakfast at Jolanda's before we said goodbye and headed home.  They still have the best croissants I have ever tasted!
We were also very lucky to have been able to spend a little time with some of my girlfriends from college. Josh decided to run the L.A. Marathon with Andrea on Saturday morning while Kathleen, the kids and I, visited the Discovery Science Center in Orange County where we attended an exhibit called Bubblefest.  I think that Kathleen and I were more impressed with the bubbles than the kids.  It was a really cool show and, at one time, there were millions of bubbles flying all around the audience.

We could not have hoped for a more fantastic weekend trip.  Too bad the time goes by so fast!  Until the next time we get over there...
