Fall is...full of swimming...Prelims & Championship

Madilyn participated in the Fall Swim Neptune Championships in November.  This is a two day meet. Day One is the preliminary meet and Day Two is the championship meet.  Only the top six best swimmers in each age group were selected to compete in the Final Championship on Sunday.  Each swimmer was allowed to choose three races to swim.  Madilyn selected the 25 yard freestyle, the 25 yard backstroke and the 25 yard butterfly.

Saturday's preliminary meet was a little chaotic.  The timers seemed a little off and Madilyn wasn't given the correct place ribbon in one of her races, which was very frustrating to her parents. However, when the day was done and all of the times were evaluated, Madilyn advanced to the Final Championship in all three of her races.  We were so proud of her!

Sunday's meet was so much better.  It helped that they used the electronic timers.  Madilyn finished fifth in one of her races and sixth in the other two.  The best part of the entire day was that Madilyn didn't really seem to mind how she finished.  She just loved the medals!  We are just elated that she did her best, bettered her times from the beginning of the season, and had a good time in the process. Until the next swim meet season...

Nice going Madilyn. Years from now Madilyn will go through some crisis and make the classic comment that life is not fair and you will remind her of her swim meet and the great attitude she had so she can repeat it in that future crisis. Thanks for the great story.
