Fall Break ~ Disneyland

Day two of our fall Disney adventure was spent in Disneyland.  Again, the crowds were minimal.  We couldn't believe it.  We *literally* walked right on to Space Mountain.  And the line for the Matterhorn Bobsleds was only about ten minutes.  Our kids really have no concept of waiting in line to experience their favorite amusement park rides.  Here are some notes about the day:
  • Josh woke up feeling pretty sick, but powered through the day for the kids and I.
  • Big Thunder Mountain Railroad was closed for repairs.  I was really bummed.  That is my favorite ride.
  • The kids favorite ride was Gadget's Go Coaster.  We must have ridden it over ten times in a row.  The kids would just get off the ride and run around to get back in line and almost literally walked right back on.
  • We didn't get to ride Indian Jones Adventure ride as Aiden still wasn't quite forty-eight inches tall.  He was super sad.
  • We ate lunch at the Blue Bayou restaurant near the Pirates of the Caribbean ride.  The food and ambiance was very nice.
  • I am a big fan of Disney's PhotoPass feature.  Disney professional photographers take photos of you all around the park and then you can purchase and download them from your Disney account.  Saved me from lugging my heavy, Canon EOS all over the park.
  • We eventually enjoyed Mickey's Halloween Party after the kids both had tantrums about their costumes.  Aiden didn't want to be a block even though he requested to dress up like the red Ninjago character - Kai.  He continued to cry and complain that his costume was "too square".  Madilyn, on the other hand, didn't like her costume because it was too itchy, especially her wig.  Finally after many tears, I convinced her to scrap being Poppy the Troll and just be a princess.
  • Josh, even in his sick state, made some really nice friends while saving our spots for the "Frightfully Fun Parade".  This allowed the kids and I to trick or treat and enjoy some rides.
  • Disney creates the *best* fireworks shows.  We especially enjoyed their "Halloween Screams" show which is the finale to Mickey's Halloween Party.  Here is a link on YouTube to view the show -- Halloween Screams Fireworks 2017.
