Memorial Day Weekend Trip ~ Day 1

For the past three years, we have vacationed in California for the Memorial Day holiday weekend. As soon as the kids adjourned from school for summer's break, we departed for San Diego. This year, we rented a dog-friendly VRBO on the boardwalk of Mission Bay near El Carmel Point for an entire week. What a perfect location! We were able to bike or walk to everything -- the grocery store, the challah bakery, restaurants, and the amusement park. Plus, we had the bay-side beach right off of our back patio. And, the ocean was only a couple of blocks away. The kids loved the easy beach access. So did I. I could watch their every move without even leaving the patio. It was great! The weather was cool. Sometimes a little too cool. But it was a nice respite from the summer's heat in Phoenix. This little condo on the beach was the perfect place for our family to relax and unwind after a crazy, activity-filled school year. Next year, we may have to make our vacation more than a week stay!
